6/14/08: DOTC w/ Trus’me (Defected – UK) ***HAS BEEN MOVED***

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

***Due to circumstances beyond our control, THE JUNE 14TH EDITION OF DANCING ON THE CHARLES HAS BEEN MOVED. However, thanks to the support of the City of Cambridge the DOTC summer event series WILL RESUME AT THE MARSH POST ON JUNE 28th as a benefit for the American Legion and the Charles River Watershed Association w/ SPECIAL GUEST VINCENZO from BERLIN.

This Saturday, the party is STILL ON! So come see TRUS’ME (Defected, UK) and the DOTC crew @ Redline (59 JFK Street, Cambridge). Doors at 9pm – great food & only $5 cover all night long – 21+***

The second installation of Dancing On The Charles summer event series proudly presents a US debut performance of Trus’me (Defected Records, Prime Numbers, UK). BBC radio’s Giles Peterson is calling him “The most interesting and promising young producer in the country [UK] right now” . Trus’me is a disco edit and deep house king and we’re very excited to hear him turn the party out.

It’s also by birthday BBQ so prepare for shenanigans!

Dancing On The Charles is a deliberate reaction to the people’s desire for a return to grassroots nightlife. Big sound system, great DJs, electronic music, BBQ, dancing outdoors and affordable prices.

5/30/08: AirDrop QuackParty

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating the release of The Giraffe, but we’re already getting ready for our second vinyl release on AirDrop Records so it’s time to party again and this time around it’s going down in their home city of NYC. It’s also happening at one of the best venues for techno in the Big Apple, Bar13, home of the BLK|Market Membership and Biatch Corp events. And never ones to forget our friends, we’re bringing Boston down there with us: die Ente remixer Tanner Ross is headlining and fellow Midweek Techno residents Pat Fontes & Sergio Santos are warming it all up (click the links to check podcasts they’va done for us). The best part? Admission is only $5 if you RSVP here!

6/5/08: Yoyoyo 90’s Jam

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

Emily leads the gang to an underground nightclub where she attempts to show Brandon the ultimate pleasure with drugs after she puts a hallucinogen in his drink, with disastrous emotional and financial consequences for him when they are forced to flee from a police raid only to leave Brandon’s car behind which gets stripped and ripped apart. Meanwhile, Kelly and Donna worry about David who gets drunk at the rave, while Steve and Andrea get lost in the inner city looking for the rest of the gang and driving to the wrong place each time.

Episode 29: The Giraffe Record Release Party

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

On Wednesday, April 23rd we celebrated the release of our first record with a blow out, check videos, at our weekly techno residency at Phoenix Landing in Cambridge. Huge thank you to all those who supported that night and earlier at the L.A.B., Allston listening party.

Biggest thank you to those who have purchased a copy of “The Giraffe”, vinyl has been flying off the shelf at records stores and online shops (like Downtown304, Juno, Phonica and Decks) and is almost sold out. Luckily we’ve saved some for sale in our new Soulclap Shop!

Lastly, shout out to On The Download who posted our Great White Hope III promo mix as last week’s “mp3 of the week”. Big up Wayne&Wax on the 451st linkthink. Great White Hope III is also available for preview on Play.FM

Minimaril’s Samba

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Minimaril - Samba EP

Minimaril is a new homey from Venezuela by way of Buenos Aires. He’s super tight with Paulo from AirDrop and turns out like a new track a day. His debut was his “Too Young To Be Famous” track released last month on AirDrop’s Extraction LP (which if you don’t have you should buy immediately), but the craziest thing about Minimaril is that he’s only 19 years old. He’s already been DJing for 5 years and his productions are uniquely funky minimal so we’re really looking forward to hearing more from one of AirDrop’s many young guns. Minimaril’s first solo release is the Samba EP, it’s out now as AirDrop Digi 001 exclusively on Juno Download and we had the privilege of turning out a remix for the release. Eventually we’ll explain why we called it the Nice’n’Ripe Rub, but for now you gotta try to figure it out yourself *GUNSHOT*.

Episode 28: Cnyce Deeps Midweek Techno

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Although its not the fully functional Soulclap tag team, its still nice to have a few solo performances here and there. This is a set from a few weeks back at Wednesday’s @ Phoenix Landing when I opened up for our boy Pito representing Biatch Corp NYC. In time leading up to that set I had been hooked on all this seriously deep, drummy, headie, housey music, so this mix really reflects that.
